Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘓𑘻𑘨𑘜𑘹 (coraṇe), from Sanskrit चोरयति (corayati). Cognate with Konkani चोर्चे (tsorce), Gujarati ચોરવું (corvũ), Hindi चोरना (cornā). Related to चोर (ċor).
