Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘳𑘖 (jujha), from 𑘕𑘳𑘽𑘖 (juṃjha), 𑘖𑘳𑘽𑘖 (jhuṃjha), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀚𑀼𑀚𑁆𑀛 (jujjha), from Sanskrit युध्य (yudhyá). Related to झुंजणे (jhuñjṇe), झुंजार (jhuñjār). Cognate with Konkani झूंज (jhū̃j), Hindustani جُوجھ (jūjh) / जूझ (jūjh), Assamese যুঁজ (zũz).
