Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Sanskrit धूलि (dhūli), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *dʰuHliṣ, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰuHliš, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰuh₂lis, from *dʰewh₂- (smoke). Cognate with Lithuanian dúlis (mist) and Latin fūlīgō. Doublet of धूलि (dhūli), a tatsama.
