Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑀓𑁆𑀔 (pakkha), from Sanskrit पक्ष (pakṣa, “wing”). Cognate with Gujarati પંખો (paṅkho), Marathi पंखा (paṅkhā).
