Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀪𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺 (*bhatti), from Sanskrit भक्ति (bhaktí). Doublet of भाँत (bhā̃t) and भक्ति (bhakti). Cognate with Awadhi भांती (bhāntī), Gujarati ભાત (bhāt), Maithili भाँति (bhā̃tɨ), Marathi 𑘥𑘰𑘽𑘝𑘲 (bhāntī), Sindhi 𑋖𑋍𑋡 (bhati).
