Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀁𑀫𑀼𑀳 (saṃmuha), from Sanskrit सम्मुख (sam-mukhá, “facing”). Compare with Punjabi ਸਾਹਮਣੇ (sāhmaṇe), Gujarati સામે (sāme).
