Inherited from Early Assamese আঙ্কোৱাল (aṅköwalo), from Sanskrit অঙ্কপালি (aṅkapāli). Cognate with Hindustani انکوار / अंकवार (aṅkvār), Nepali अँगालो (ãgālo), Kumaoni अङ्वाल.
