Etymology[edit]

Learned borrowing from Sanskrit प्रायः (prāyaḥ, mostly), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *praHyas, from Proto-Indo-European *pleh₁-yōs (more), comparative degree of *pelh₁us (much).[1] Cognate with Latin plūs (whence English plus). Doublet of পুরা (pura), পুরো (purō), পূরণ (puron), and পূর্ণ (purno).
