Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Proto-South Dravidian *weṇney. Cognate with Tamil வெண்ணெய் (veṇṇey), Malayalam വെണ്ണ (veṇṇa), Kannada ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ (beṇṇe).
