From Old Georgian ბზაჲ (bzay). Possibly akin to Mingrelian ბზაკალი (bzaḳali), ზაკალი (zaḳali) and Laz მზანა (mzana). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
