Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan *mq̇ar- (strong, sound, solid). Cognate with Georgian მყარი (mq̇ari).

  1. strict, firm, tight
    ლაზუტი დიდო პეჯი ქოდუტალიდორენ. მციქა ქოგოშუწკი დო ითუთხანაზ.
    lazuťi dido p̌eci koduťalidoren. mʒika kogoşuǯǩi do itutxanaz.
    You've left the corn too tight. Pull it out a little more so it's sparse.
  2. (about hair, beard, mustache etc.) bushy
    ეჩი წანა ოღინე პეჯი ნამიღუტუ თომა გომახუ
    eçi ǯana oğine p̌eci namiğuťu toma gomaxu
    Twenty years ago my hair was thick and now it has fallen out
  3. (about molasses, custard, etc.) undiluted, solid
    ნანაზ ურძენიში პეტმეზი დიდო დაგუბუ. ჰეჲაშენი პეჯი რენ.
    nanaz urżenişi p̌eťmezi dido dagubu. heyaşeni p̌eci ren.
    My mother boiled the grape molasses too much by mistake. That's why it (the molasses) became solid.
  4. (about fabric, tree bark, etc.) coarse, thick
    გალე დიდო ინი რენ. პეჯი მუთუ უდოლოქუნუ ვარგოილენ.
    gale dido ini ren. p̌eci mutu udolokunu vargoilen.
    It's very cold outside. You can't go out without wearing something thick.
