Etymology 1[edit]

From Old Georgian ტომი (ṭomi), ტოჰმი (ṭohmi), either directly from Middle Persian 𐫤𐫇𐫍𐫖 (twhm /⁠tōhm⁠/, seed; family) or via Old Armenian տոհմ (tohm, family, race). Ultimately from Proto-Iranian *táwxma.
