Old Nubian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Uncertain. Sometimes compared to Proto-Berber *am-an, but the resemblance is likely a coincidence given the otherwise complete lack of evidence for ancient Berber-Nubian contact.

Noun[edit]

ⲁⲙⲁⲛ- (aman-)

  1. Synonym of ⲁⲥⲥⲉ- (asse-, water)

Descendants[edit]

  • Nobiin: ámán
