Schuessler (2009) reconstructs Later Han Chinese pronunciation *ʔɨamB-sɑC and compares this to Latin transcription Abzoae found in Pliny the Elder's Natural History VI, 38; Abzoae has been compared to 闔蘇 (OC *ĥa̱p-sa̱ĥ) (Hulsewé, 1979), another name of 奄蔡, according to Yan Shigu (Yu, 1998).
