Etymology[edit]

Compound of 恵(え)方(ほう) (ehō, “favorable direction”) + 巻(まき) (maki, “roll”, 連(れん)用(よう)形(けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb 巻(ま)く (maku, “to roll something up”)).[1][2]
