Etymology

Sino-Korean word from 去聲 (“high pitch”) + 不 (“not”) + 連 (“continue”) + 三 (“thrice”), coined by Korean linguist Kim Wan-jin, who also coined 훈주음종 (訓主音從, hunjueumjong) and other important words in Korean historical linguistics.
