Noun[edit]

얼음보숭이 (eoreumbosung'i)

  1. (South Korea) A word used in South Korea to refer to "ice cream" that is incorrectly said to be a standard North Korean word. The word, which appeared in the second edition of North Korea's 현대조선말대사전(Modern Korean Language Dictionary) in 1981, has not been recognized as a standard word since 1992, when it was not included in 조선말대사전(the Dictionary of the Korean Language), which contains the standard vocabulary of North Korea, and is actually known as "아이스크림(ice cream)" or "에스키모(eskimo)" in standard North Korean.
