From Middle Persian *Vahbarz, from Old Persian *Vahubr̥zans,[1][2][3] from *vahuš (“good, excellent”) +‎ *br̥zans (“high, exalted”).[4] Cognate with Parthian 𐭅𐭇𐭅𐭁𐭓𐭆 (wḥwbrz), Ancient Greek Οβορζος (Oborzos).
