Etymology[edit]

From 𐱃𐰺𐰃𐰴 (tarïq-, to be uneasy, to be difficult) +‎ 𐰨 (-ïnč) from 𐱃𐰺 (tar, narrow) itself inherited from Proto-Turkic *tār (narrow). Cognate with Turkish dar (narrow), Uzbek tor, Bashkir тар (tar), Tuvan тар (tar).
