Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *h₂wĺ̥h₁neh₂ (wool). Cognate with Latin lāna, Ancient Greek λῆνος (lênos), Gothic 𐍅𐌿𐌻𐌻𐌰 (wulla).
