Etymology[edit]

Seen in thematic verbs it may be from Proto-Hellenic *-ehen, from Proto-Indo-European *-esen, locative case of action noun. Similar to Latin -ere. See also -εναι (-enai), -έμεν (-émen), -μεναι (-menai).
