Alternative forms[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Learned borrowing from Indonesian -isi, from Dutch -itie.
Pronunciation[edit]
Suffix[edit]
-isi (Jawi spelling -يسي)
Usage notes[edit]
This is used in newer adaptations of English loanwords ending in -ition in an effort to make the ending of such words uniform with its Dutch-derived counterparts in Indonesian. Previously, the suffix in words of this kind were adapted as -isyen (e.g. as in petisyen for petition).
