1925 by Georg August Schweinfurth, having travelled frequently in his life, after Arabic كُرَّاث (kurrāṯ). Sometimes also called in English kurrat and in French kurrat

  1. A taxonomic species within the family Amaryllidaceae – now considered an Arabic cultivar of Allium ampeloprasum, with smaller and with somewhat slimmer leaves than typical A. ampeloprasum.
