2020 2 January NZT -Vinkdicator: the section saying that 'chips' never refers to crisps is plain wrong. I am a New Zealander and we very often call them chips. Crisps is quite uncommon, actually. If you need to distinguish them, you can say 'hot chips'. Trying to say crisp-like chips is actually difficult. You might say 'crunchy chips'. This could be different for different age ranges, I am in my twenties.
