Etymology[edit]
It is probably the same toponym attested as (castello) Berisamo in a Roman Latin inscription.[1] A Celtic place name: from a descendant of Proto-Indo-European *gʷerH- (“to praise”) + Proto-Celtic *-isamo-, a superlative suffix.[2]
