Etymology[edit]

From Brent Tor, a prominent hill.

Proper noun[edit]

Brentor

  1. A civil parish in West Devon district, Devon, England.

Usage notes[edit]

There is no village actually named Brentor, there is one named North Brentor, with a hamlet known as South Brentor near Brent Tor, the hill. Brentor did appear as a location in the South Brentor area on an Ordnance Survey map published in 1946,[1] but not on later maps. South Brentor is shown on OS Explorer map 112 (Launceston & Holsworthy) September 2015 edition.
