English[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Recorded as Burne Bridge in 1666. It is unclear if this refers to a burnt bridge, or a bridge over a burn (stream), in this case the Crimple Beck. As burn for a stream is uncommon in Yorkshire, the burnt bridge is more likely.
Proper noun[edit]
- A village in Pannal and Burn Bridge parish, Harrogate district, North Yorkshire, England (OS grid ref SE3051).
