Language code choices[edit]

Assuming they could be used with little or no issues, why not make the following language codes?

Why not have Basilicatan Gallo-Italic or Gallo-Basilicatan and Sicilian Gallo-Italic or Gallo-Sicilian as respective language names?

Anyway, thanks for considering the proposals. --Apisite (talk) 12:35, 29 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Apisite I think that Gallo-Italic of Basilicata and Gallo-Italic of Basilicata as they belong to gruop of the Gallo Italic languages their code is roa-git. However, sub-categories should be added for these two languages. Nowadays these languages do not have a code (like for example lmo for Lombard language) but obtaining a code depends on entities outside the wikimedia projects. I don't know how to do it but I think you should read here https://iso639-3.sil.org/code_changes/introduction and it's not an easy process.--Gat lombart (talk) 07:07, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Gat lombart: Category:Tarantino language has been created by Daniel Carrero (talkcontribs), so I don't think we need ISO codes for Gallo-Basilicatan and Gallo-Sicilian. --Apisite (talk) 15:55, 4 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
