Pointless?[edit]

I don't see the point of this category. All Welsh words suffixed with -iau are going to be plurals - what is so special about these that need to be categorized? Cdhaptomos 23:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree, feel free to tag with {{rfd}}. Mglovesfun (talk) 23:16, 12 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Category:Welsh words suffixed with -iau[edit]

Per discussion at the talk page. Cdhaptomos talkcontribs 00:08, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Delete (for now at least). The six entries in the category are all inflected forms rather than by suffixing. So all six should be removed, leaving the category empty, ergo will be deleted. I'm not saying there aren't any Welsh words that aren't suffixed with -iau, rather than just being inflected forms. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:52, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Keep (obviously I'm in favour, since I created the category :)). It seems useful, to me, to have a category with nouns that pluralise in -iau (rather than -au, -ion, -oedd, or what have you. If we do decide to delete this, note that there are other categories for different plural endings that should probably also go. embryomystic 11:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
If we were to keep it under your reasoning, Embryomystic, I would suggest renaming to "Welsh plurals suffixed with -iau". Cdhaptomos talkcontribs 12:56, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
It's the sort of thing a template {{cy-plural}} could do. Maybe Welsh nouns pluralized with -iau? Hmm no Mglovesfun (talk) 21:21, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Sounds sensible to me. embryomystic 17:28, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Wouldn't "Welsh nouns pluralized with -iau" imply that the nouns which are to be pluralized (that is, not the plurals themselves) be placed in that category? Cdhaptomos talkcontribs 21:31, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps Category:Welsh plurals ending in -iau or Category:Welsh -iau plurals then? Thryduulf 20:47, 27 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Either of those works for me. embryomystic 06:16, 29 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Keep per embryomystic. Looks good. Cf. the other subcats of Welsh plural suffixes.—msh210 (talk) 18:57, 2 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
