Borrowed from French Galibi, ultimately from Kari'na karìna, from Proto-Cariban *karipona (person).

  1. Synonym of Kari'na (An indigenous people native to the north coast of South America; also, their traditional language).
  2. A settlement in Suriname chiefly inhabited by the Kari'na people.
