Noun[edit]

Gleisänderung f (genitive Gleisänderung, plural Gleisänderungen)

  1. (rail transport) platform alteration, platform change, change of platform

Usage notes[edit]

  • In German-speaking countries, train departures/arrivals are assigned to a numbered track (Gleis), not a platform (Bahnsteig or Perron). In practice a Gleisänderung (literally track change) has broadly equivalent effect to a platform alteration in UK railway terminology.
