Possibly from English heliophobe (“one who fears the sun or sunlight”) + -us (“masculine suffix”). Possibly directly from New Latin helio- (“sun”) + Latin -phobus (“-phobe; (one) who fears”), literally “heliophobe, sun-fearer”.
