Etymology[edit]

From being a hominid (Homo, from Latin homo (man)) discovered in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang (黑龍江).

longi, from Mandarin (lóng, “dragon”). From Chinese 黑龍江黑龙江 (Hēilóngjiāng, “Heilongjiang”, literally “Black Dragon River”).
