Luxembourgish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Old High German honag, from Proto-Germanic *hunagą. The vocalism -u- throughout Central Franconian (see Hunnig) points to an Old High German variant *hunag with irregular lack of a-mutation, but Luxembourgish Hunneg can be regularly derived from either form. Cognates include German Honig, Dutch honing, English honey.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /ˈhuneχ/, [ˈhu.nəɕ]
