German[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Hure +‎ -en- +‎ Bock.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (file)

Noun[edit]

Hurenbock m (strong, genitive Hurenbockes or Hurenbocks, plural Hurenböcke)

  1. (derogatory) a promiscuous man, especially (but not necessarily) one who frequents prostitutes

Usage notes[edit]

  • The word is virtually never used in a positive, macho tone and has similarly negative connotations as Hure or Schlampe have for a woman. It is, however, less frequent in everyday use than these last.
