Irishian (plural Irishians)

1. (archaic) A scholar of the Irish language.
   • 1857, Transactions of the Ossianic Society, volume 3, page 28:

     In these indeed, as in all the stories, there are abundance of words no longer used in conversation; but which are understood by the context, or which in districts where such pieces are read, there is always some Irishian sufficiently learned to explain.

   • 1893, Journal of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society, page 182:

     […] himself an "Irishian," or Irish scholar, who assured me that he had it from a descendant of years ago.
