- (Zuid-Holland) Named after Katwijk aan den Rijn and Katwijk aan Zee.
- (Noord-Brabant) First attested as Catwyck in 1530. Derived from the difficult to interpret toponymic element kat (“cat, ridge, mud, lesser”) and wijk (“village, settlement”).
