German[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Literally, head or number.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • (file)

Phrase[edit]

Kopf oder Zahl

  1. (coin-flipping) heads or tails

Usage notes[edit]

  • Most Euro coins do not show a head (neither did most Mark coins). Zahl is always the side that shows the value of the coin, or—if it is on both sides—shows it in larger font size. The other side is Kopf.
