Named after French mathematician Paul Pierre Lévy (1886–1971).

Lévy flight (plural Lévy flights)

  1. (mathematics) A type of random walk in which the increments are distributed according to a “heavy-tailed” distribution i.e. there are a significant number of large increments.
    Synonym: Lévy walk
