Latin[edit]

Etymology[edit]

borrowed from Ancient Greek Λαβεάται (Labeátai). Thought to be related to the modern Labëri (land of lab), derived from lëbozë (horizon/sky), from Proto-Albanian *labeita close to the name of the Illyrian tribe Labeatae, suggesting an archaic meaning of "small sky".
