Etymology[edit]
Argyll form of Lachlann, from Middle Irish Lochlann, a folk etymology (equivalent to loch (“loch”) + -lann (“place of”)) of Old Irish Lothlind, a name with disputed origins. Perhaps altered by analogy with Eachann.
