Etymology[edit]

From the appearance on maps indicating the position of Singapore, being a red dot position marker, that completely covers all of Singapore on such maps. Originally a derogatory term coined by 3rd President of Indonesia (1998—1999) and 7th Vice President of Indonesia Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie in 1998.
