  1. The third-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Kentucky; its cities and towns serve as the de facto "south side" communities of Cincinnati, Ohio. It includes Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties along the Ohio River, and sometimes other counties to the south are considered part of the region as well.
