Etymology

The word did not exist in the dialect originally, so it must have entered the dialect through a neighbouring dialect. So, from either Limburgish ǫǫve or Central Franconian Ovve, both from Proto-West Germanic *ofn, from Proto-Germanic *ufnaz, north and West Germanic variant of *uhnaz.
