Dutch[edit]

Etymology[edit]

First attested as reemssche plakken in 1427. Derived from oud (old) and Reemst, a toponym of unclear etymology. It is potentially derived from riem (belt, strip) or Proto-Germanic *hramas- (garlic) with collective suffix -t. The element oud was added to distinguish the settlement from Nieuw-Reemst. Compare Riemst.

  • Hyphenation: Oud-‧Reemst
  • Rhymes: -eːmst
