Etymology[edit]
Ancient Greek ῥαμφηστής (rhamphēstḗs), from ῥαμφή (rhamphḗ, “hooked knife, bill”) or ῥάμφος (rhámphos, “bill of a bird of prey”), possibly from Pre-Greek. See ῥέμβομαι (rhémbomai, “to turn around, roam”) and ῥόμβος (rhómbos, “wheel”).
