Etymology[edit]

Either reflecting or possibly from Doric Greek Τυρσανοί (Tursanoí)/Τυρσανοί (Tursanoí), an epithet used to denote the inhabitants of the Tyrrhenian Sea (cf. Latin Mare Tyrrhēnum).
