Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Celtic *mlīnos, from Proto-Indo-European *mlih₁-nó-s, from *mleh₁y-. Cognate with Lithuanian blīnis (tired man), Proto-Germanic *blīþiz (gentle, mild), Sanskrit म्लायति (mlā́yati, to be weary).[1]
