Etymology[edit]
From pre-Germanic *drob-néh₂-ti,[1] from Proto-Indo-European *dreb⁽ʰ⁾- (“to tread, to step”). Compare Lithuanian drebė́ti (“to tremble”) and Polish drabina (“ladder”).
