Etymology[edit]

Equivalent to *drobь (fraction) +‎ *-zgъ, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰrebʰ- (to fracture). Cognate with Latvian drabažas (bark that has fallen)[1].

Parallel to Proto-Slavic *drebězgъ (fragment, shard).
